Police say this was not a random act—they believe the suspect knew the residents. - Embezzlement Sentencing in Jerome:
April Jarvis, 46, who stole up to $360,000 from A & G Irrigation in Jerome, was sentenced Tuesday. She’ll serve 180 days in jail, five years of probation, and must pay $200,000 in restitution. The judge cited a pattern of fraud in the case. - Coyotes at Auger Falls:
After a recent dog-coyote encounter at Auger Falls, officials are urging caution on local trails. Coyotes can be aggressive this time of year while protecting newborn pups. Keep dogs leashed and stay alert, especially near dens and open spaces.

Government & Politics
- Foster Care Reform Signed into Law:
Governor Brad Little signed Senate Bill 1208, launching a $23.2 million investment to reform Idaho’s foster care system. The plan adds 63 new workers and expands support to help children stay safely at home while also improving crisis care. - Funding Boost for Public Defenders:
Governor Little also signed a bill adding $6.7 million in funding to Idaho’s State Public Defender’s Office. The new total budget is $83.2 million to support public defense across all 44 counties and cover current shortfalls. - Deleted Texts Spark Transparency Concerns:
Rep. Barbara Ehardt admitted to deleting text messages from university contacts during debate on a bill limiting diversity programs. The messages related to public business, raising serious concerns about transparency and public accountability. - Pride Flag Controversy in Boise:
The Pride flag now flies below the Boise city flag at city hall—but a new Idaho law may prohibit it. Governor Little recently signed House Bill 96, banning government buildings from flying any flags not representing the U.S., Idaho, or the military.
