Threats Against Officials โ A Twin Falls man who sent detailed threats to kidnap, torture, and kill an Idaho prosecutor and judge has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison. 28-year-old Nathanael West pleaded guilty to multiple charges tied to the threats against Assistant U.S. Attorney David Robins and Chief U.S. District Judge David Nye, who had sentenced him in 2022 for similar crimes.
Child Exploitation Case โ A Buhl man, 56-year-old Daniel Dekruyf, has been sentenced to four to 18 years in prison for possessing child sex abuse material. Prosecutors say hundreds of images were found on his computers during a search last year.
High-Speed Chase โ A Twin Falls man accused of ramming two police vehicles and leading a high-speed chase must undergo a court-ordered competency evaluation. Authorities say 33-year-old Tyler Owens hit speeds up to 95 mph before being stopped and arrested.

Back-to-School Safety โ The City of Twin Falls is reminding drivers to slow down and watch for students as school starts August 18. Police will strictly enforce the 20 mph school zone speed limit and crosswalk safety laws to protect students and pedestrians.
Water Conservation in Buhl โ Buhl residents are being asked to conserve water as Well 5 is down, with repairs expected by Aug. 22. Residents should limit sprinkler use to assigned days by address, with no watering allowed on Mondays.
Medal of Honor Recipients โ Four Idaho law enforcement officers, including Kimberly-Hansen Police Officer Brian Quiterio, have received the Idaho Medal of Honor. Quiterio was honored for saving a suicidal man on the Hansen Bridge, while other recipients were recognized for acts of bravery in Coeur dโAlene and Garden City.

Dietrich Football โ Last yearโs 1A runner-up enters 2025 with a younger roster after graduating nine seniors and losing key players to transfers. Head coach Garrett Astle says leadership will fall on the teamโs three seniors as they open August 29 at home against Mackay.
Buhl Football โ The Indians enter year three under head coach Josh Creasey with a mission to bring home a trophy after falling short the past two seasons. With eight offensive starters returning, the only battle is on the O-line. Buhl opens at home against Weiser on Thursday, August 28.
Idaho Horsemen โ The indoor football team will leave Nampaโs Idaho Center after the 2025 season, citing rising facility costs, lower attendance, and plans for a possible fresh start in a new community.
