BOIL WATER ORDER – WENDELL
A boil-water order remains in effect for all Wendell, Idaho residents after a water main break on Idaho Street. Crews worked more than seven hours overnight in rain and cold to fix it. Officials say some residents may still see temporary water disruptions, and testing results are expected within 24 hours.
KIMBERLY SCHOOL BOND & LEVY DEBATE
Dozens of residents spoke out on the Kimberly School District’s proposed levy and $57.8 million bond. The levy would raise taxes to about $40 per $100,000, while the bond would add around $277 per $100,000. Both measures go before voters May 19.
JEROME COUNTY SHERIFF FINALISTS
Three finalists are in the running to become the next Jerome County Sheriff’s Office sheriff. Robert Rausch, Gary Taylor, and Matthew West interviewed with commissioners Thursday to replace retiring Sheriff George Oppedyk. Public input is being accepted through Sunday, with a decision expected April 20.
WATERCRAFT INSPECTIONS UNDERWAY
The Idaho State Department of Agriculture has started watercraft inspections for the season. Boaters are reminded to stop at all inspection stations to help prevent invasive species like quagga mussels. Officials say clean, drain, and dry your watercraft—and remember, inspections are mandatory statewide.
GEOTHERMAL LEASING PROPOSAL
The Bureau of Land Management is asking for public input on proposed geothermal leasing across southern and central Idaho. The plan covers more than 114,000 acres, including parts of Twin Falls and Cassia counties. Public comment is open now through May 13.
NEW “AMERICA 250” LICENSE PLATE
The Idaho Department of Motor Vehicles has released a new America 250 license plate. The red, white, and blue design celebrates the nation’s 250th birthday in 2026. It’s available now at county DMV offices, with fees helping support the Idaho State Historical Society.
BOISE LEGAL BATTLE HEADS TO SUPREME COURT
A national legal nonprofit is weighing in on a Boise court battle involving former Big City Coffee owner Sarah Fendley. Pacific Legal Foundation filed with the Idaho Supreme Court, supporting a $4 million jury award after Fendley claimed her rights were violated by Boise State University. The case is now under appeal, with arguments not yet scheduled.

TWIN FALLS SOFTBALL DOMINATES
Twin Falls softball had a big day on the road at Mountain Home. They picked up a doubleheader sweep—winning game one 11 to 6, then blowing it open in game two with a 20 to 5 victory.
HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL – FULL SLATE
Southern Idaho varsity baseball is stacked this weekend. Today Canyon Ridge takes on Highland out in Pocatello in a conference doubleheader at 3 and 5. Declo hosts Glenns Ferry at 4, Kimberly heads to Fruitland for games at 4 and 6, Wendell is at Gooding at 4, and Filer faces Cole Valley Christian in Meridian at 6:30.
Then on Saturday, Canyon Ridge travels to Highland for an 11 a.m. matchup, Declo is at Firth at noon, and Glenns Ferry hosts Idaho City at 12.

On the softball side today, Wendell visits Declo at 4, Weiser is at Gooding at 4, Glenns Ferry travels to Wilder at 4, Buhl plays at Homedale at 5, and Filer takes on Cole Valley Christian in Meridian at 6.
CSI BASEBALL STARTS STRONG
In college baseball, the College of Southern Idaho knocked off Colorado Northwestern 9 to 2 in their conference opener yesterday. CSI jumped out early with two runs in the first and never looked back. Crew Secrist led the way with a home run and four RBI, while Ryder Cutlip and Mack Evans each had three hits. Grayson Riding picked up the win with eight strikeouts, and Jackson Gardner shut the door in relief. CSI and CNCC are back at it this afternoon with a doubleheader starting at 1.
IDAHO STATE SOFTBALL – BIG SKY SHOWDOWN
The Idaho State Bengals softball team are back at home this weekend for a huge Big Sky showdown with Sacramento State Hornets. The Bengals sit in first place in the conference and come in hot after a midweek win over Boise State Broncos. They’ve been one of the top offensive teams in the country—hitting over .320 as a team with more than 60 home runs this season. First pitch for the doubleheader is set for 2 o’clock Saturday, with Senior Day celebrations happening after the game.
