๐Ÿšจ DEADLY CRASH IN EASTERN IDAHO

A deadly crash in eastern Idaho is leading the news this morning.

Idaho State Police say a 19-year-old Downey man died Thursday after his pickup rear-ended a semi-trailer on Interstate 15, just north of Inkom.

Police say both vehicles were traveling southbound when they collided at approximately 5:40 Thursday afternoon.

The investigation into the crash continues.

๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ TWIN FALLS SCHOOL LEVY GOES TO VOTERS

Twin Falls voters will decide November 3rd whether to renew the Twin Falls School District’s $7.2 million supplemental levy for another two years.

The school district says renewing the levy would not increase the tax rate.

According to the district, the funding helps pay for school security, staffing, specialized programs, maintenance and free extracurricular activities.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ POLITICAL NEWS AROUND IDAHO

Two former Republican Idaho attorneys general are backing Democrat Lori Hickman in her race against incumbent Attorney General Raรบl Labrador.

Former attorneys general Lawrence Wasden and Jim Jones announced their endorsements Thursday, joining dozens of former attorneys from the attorney general’s office.

Labrador’s campaign has dismissed the group as disgruntled former employees.

Meanwhile, Boise Democrat Steve Berch is leading Idaho legislative candidates in fundraising, with more than $212,000 raised.

Republican challenger Steve Keyser has raised approximately $13,600, according to the figures in the campaign report.

๐Ÿšง CHANGES COMING TO THE SOUTH JEROME INTERCHANGE

Drivers using the south Jerome interchange should see some changes Tuesday night.

At I-84 Exit 168, Lincoln Avenue will open to two lanes in each direction.

Traffic signals are expected to become operational around 9 p.m., with flaggers helping direct traffic during the transition.

Construction is expected to be completed next month.

Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and construction activity in the area.

โš–๏ธ COURT NEWS

A federal judge has dismissed a civil rights lawsuit filed by Idaho probation officer Cliff Ohler against Nampa and Canyon County officials.

Ohler filed the lawsuit after investigators searched his phones during a murder investigation.

The judge ruled that Ohler failed to prove that officials had violated his constitutional rights.

In another Nampa case, Allysen Armenta is asking to withdraw her guilty plea connected to the cover-up following the accidental death of her newborn son.

Her sentencing has been canceled while the court considers the request. Prosecutors oppose the move, and a hearing is scheduled for January 8th.

๐Ÿž๏ธ MILNER RECREATION AREA REMAINS OPEN

If you’re planning to visit the Milner Recreation Area, the area remains open while road work and replacement of shade structures continue.

The Bureau of Land Management expects the new shelters to be completed before November.

The improvements are designed to provide better access for visitors with disabilities.

Visitors should be prepared for possible traffic disruptions while construction continues.

It’s a new chapter for Boise State football Saturday.

The 22nd-ranked Broncos host Utah State in their first Pac-12 conference game.

Boise State enters the matchup with an impressive 26-game winning streak in conference openers.

Quarterback Maddux Madsen has thrown nine touchdown passes without an interception.

Boise State will also honor its 2006 Fiesta Bowl team during the game.

๐Ÿˆ IDAHO STATE HOSTS RANKED NORTHERN ARIZONA

The 12th-ranked Idaho State Bengals host 19th-ranked Northern Arizona Saturday.

Idaho State is 4-0 and earned the Big Sky Team of the Month award for September.

It will be Pocatello’s first matchup between ranked teams since 2003.


โšฝ SOCCER ROUNDUP

The high school soccer regular season wrapped up Thursday with several notable results.

Canyon Ridge rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie Twin Falls 2-2.

Burley and Jerome finished 1-1.

Wood River dominated Minico 12-0, with Fabian Moreno scoring twice. Eleven different Wolverines scored in the victory.

Vallivue edged Mountain Home 2-1.

In girls soccer, Twin Falls and Canyon Ridge played to a 0-0 tie.

Wood River defeated Minico 4-0, while Jerome shut out Burley 3-0.

District tournament action is next.

Wood River’s boys, who are 12-2, host unbeaten 9-0 Teton Saturday at 11 a.m.

Filer travels to Sun Valley Community School, with the girls playing at 11 a.m. and the boys at 1 p.m.

Wendell’s girls visit unbeaten Fruitland at noon.

โšฝ COLLEGE SOCCER

Boise State opened Pac-12 play with a 4-1 victory over San Diego State Thursday night.

Mia Lane scored twice as the Broncos picked up their seventh straight victory.

Boise State hosts Gonzaga Sunday at 1 p.m.

Idaho State opened Big Sky play with a 0-0 draw against Eastern Washington.

The Bengals outshot Eastern Washington 12-7 and allowed just one shot on goal.

Idaho State goalkeeper Aliya Garrett recorded her third shutout of the season.

The Bengals travel to Moscow Sunday to face Idaho at 2 p.m.

Idaho opened Big Sky play with a 1-1 draw against Weber State. Caitlyn Riggs scored just before halftime before Weber State tied the game in the 86th minute.

Idaho and Idaho State meet Sunday at 2 p.m. inside the Kibbie Dome.


๐Ÿ VOLLEYBALL

Buhl is back in the win column after snapping a 10-match losing streak.

The Indians swept Declo, with Addy Vulgamore recording 17 kills.

Raft River went five sets to defeat Dietrich, winning the deciding set 15-7.

Minico swept Canyon Ridge, with Brooke Seamons serving 12 aces.

Twin Falls swept Burley, while Wood River swept Jerome.

Gooding swept Wendell, led by Blayke Brunson’s 11 kills.

Hagerman swept Kimberly’s junior varsity, with Ava Chizum recording 15 kills and 13 digs.

๐Ÿ TOURNAMENT ACTION

Kimberly enters the Rocky Mountain Invitational with a 20-5 record.

Play begins Saturday morning at 9 and continues throughout the weekend.

The tournament field includes teams from across Idaho, including Rigby, Idaho Falls, Bonneville, Coeur d’Alene, Rocky Mountain, Cole Valley Christian, Timberline, Eagle, Highland, Nampa Christian, Lakeland and Lewiston.

Hagerman heads to Butte County Saturday for the I Pink I Can Tournament, with play beginning at 9 a.m.

๐ŸŽ“ CSI NAMES NEW ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

College of Southern Idaho has named Bobbi Stannard its new assistant athletic director.

Stannard has worked at CSI since 2020 and most recently led student access programs.

She also brings athletic experience from Boise State and Washington, where she directed volleyball operations.

It’s looking like a warm and dry weekend across the Magic Valley.

Friday: Mostly sunny with a high near 84ยฐ. Winds will be light, becoming northwest around 6 mph during the afternoon.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy with a low around 52ยฐ.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 81ยฐ. Winds will remain light.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear with temperatures dropping to around 51ยฐ.

Sunday: Sunny and warmer, with a high near 88ยฐ.

The dry stretch continues into next week, with temperatures generally settling into the lower 80s.

Monday is expected to reach around 84ยฐ, followed by mostly sunny skies and highs near 81ยฐ Tuesday, 80ยฐ Wednesday and 81ยฐ Thursday.
