IDAHO SUPREME COURT JUSTICE RETIRING
G. Richard Bevan is retiring after decades of service in Idaho’s legal system. The Twin Falls native will step down October 30 after serving on the Idaho Supreme Court since 2017, including time as chief justice. Governor Brad Little will appoint a replacement to serve out the remainder of Bevan’s term.
GAS PRICES KEEP CLIMBING
Idaho drivers are still feeling the squeeze at the pump. AAA says gas is averaging $4.31 a gallon this morning—up from last week, last month, and nearly a dollar higher than a year ago. The national average sits at $4.12, with Idaho ranking ninth most expensive. Ongoing unrest in the Middle East continues to push oil—and gas prices—higher.
TAX REFUND DELAYS FRUSTRATE FILERS
Some Idaho taxpayers who filed before March 10 are still waiting for a refund. State officials say new tax law changes caused delays while systems were updated. The Idaho State Tax Commission says those early filers should see refunds by the end of May, while newer returns are now on a normal timeline.
FEMA AID APPROVED—BUT NOT FOR TWIN FALLS
FEMA says parts of Idaho can now get federal help after those powerful December wind storms—but not Twin Falls. Northern counties qualify for funding to repair damage, while Twin Falls County—despite injuries from falling trees—is not currently on the list. Officials say more areas could still be added.
FILER QRU FACING STAFFING CHALLENGES
The Filer Fire Commission is taking a closer look at the future of its Quick Response Unit. Officials say the volunteer-run QRU is struggling with staffing, as fewer responders are available and paramedics often arrive first. The commission has tabled a decision for now and will explore options to keep the service running ahead of their next meeting on May 11.

KIMBERLY SOFTBALL SWEEPS GOODING
Big day on the diamond for Kimberly softball, sweeping a doubleheader over Gooding—14-7 in game one, then a wild 10-9 walk-off win in game two. In the opener, Kimberly racked up 11 hits and 14 runs. Joy Hanchey, Addison Cann, and Avery Beard each drove in three runs. Gracie Alleman went the distance in the circle. For Gooding, Olivia Rogers had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double. Game two was a thriller—Addison Cann delivers the walk-off hit after Gooding tied it late. Cann finished with another three RBIs, while Maci Chiatovich added two. Emma Merritt picked up the win for Kimberly.

CSI RODEO TEAMS STAY COMPETITIVE
The College of Southern Idaho women’s rodeo team is still on top of the Rocky Mountain Region after a second-place finish at the Weber State Rodeo. The men sit in third overall. Celie Davis won barrel racing, while Hailey Gibbs took second in goat tying. On the men’s side, Dahl Winters and Chase Andrade each grabbed first-place finishes. CSI heads to Grand Junction next for the Colorado Mesa Rodeo this weekend.
BOISE STATE VS IDAHO STATE SHOWDOWN
Boise State Broncos softball heads to Idaho State Bengals softball, with Boise State holding a 24-6 edge in the series—and they’ve won all nine in Pocatello. The Broncos have been clutch late, scoring nearly half their runs after the fifth inning. Marissa Gonzalez leads the team with a .339 average and nine home runs, while Skylar Stroh tops the squad with 36 RBIs. First pitch coming up as Boise State looks to stay perfect on the road in this matchup.
