New Restaurant in Twin Falls
Another new restaurant is being planned in Twin Falls. At this week’s Planning and Zoning meeting, Raising Cane’s management presented a request to the commission to tear down the old Golden Corral building and construct a new structure with a drive-thru. The proposed restaurant plans to stay open as late as 3:30 a.m. on weekends.
Veterinary Shortage in Idaho
The lack of veterinarians, particularly those working with large animals, is becoming a crisis in Idaho. The average age for veterinarians in this field is over 50, and as many approach retirement, there are few younger professionals to replace them. Only 3-4% of new veterinary graduates enter this specialty. One major contributing factor to the shortage is low pay.
Buhl Seeks Public Input
The City of Buhl is updating its comprehensive plan and wants resident feedback. Despite starting the process in October, only 28 out of 5,000 residents have completed the survey. Residents can provide their input by visiting cityofbuhl.us.
Out-of-State Campaign Money in Idaho
An influx of out-of-state campaign money funded many negative ads in Idaho during the 2024 elections, according to Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane. Most of this funding was directed toward ads during the primary elections rather than the general election.
Supreme Court Considers Transgender Youth Law
The Supreme Court heard arguments yesterday as advocates for transgender youth sought to overturn a Tennessee law banning puberty blockers and hormones in certain cases. Idaho has a similar law. The court’s six conservative justices appeared unmoved, but a final ruling is expected in several months.
Farm Bill Concerns from Idaho’s Governor
Idaho Governor Brad Little and 16 other Republican governors have sent a joint letter to Congress expressing concerns over the delayed passage of the updated Farm Bill. They emphasized the importance of reauthorizing the bill to provide farmers and ranchers with the support they need to continue feeding the nation and the world.

Idaho Men’s Basketball
The Idaho Men’s Basketball team secured an 82-77 victory over Kansas City, shooting 56.9% from the field and 45.5% from three-point range. They will face Oregon State on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m.
Idaho State Bengals Basketball
The Idaho State Bengals defeated the Denver Pioneers 73-61 with a strong performance from Kacey Spink. The Bengals will face the University of Missouri – Kansas City this Saturday at 1 p.m.
Boise State Honors
Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, and Spencer Danielson was named MW Coach of the Year. Jeanty was also a unanimous All-MW first-team selection.
CSI Cheer Team
The College of Southern Idaho Cheer Team showed improvement in a duel against Salt Lake CC. CSI will next compete at the Region 18 Tournament on Dec. 16-17.
