IMMIGRATION LAW CHALLENGE MOVES FORWARD
A federal judge has largely rejected Idaho’s request to dismiss a lawsuit challenging the state’s 2025 immigration law. The ruling allows most of the ACLU’s case against House Bill 83 to move forward, with parts of the law still blocked from taking effect.
NEW POLL: OPTIMISM WITH ECONOMIC ANXIETY
A new Boise State survey shows most Idahoans still believe the state is headed in the right direction, but many are worried about the economy. Forty-two percent expect conditions to worsen over the next two years, while support is growing for a proposed reproductive rights ballot initiative.
TRAGIC PLANE CRASH CLAIMS LOCAL METEOROLOGIST
KBOI-TV Chief Meteorologist Roland Steadham died yesterday in a small plane crash on the Payette River near Emmett. Authorities say the plane clipped a power line and went down on the ice. Two people on board were killed.
SEXUAL ENTICEMENT LAW EXPANSION
A bill in the Idaho Legislature would expand felony penalties for online sexual enticement to include victims ages sixteen and seventeen when the suspect is at least five years older. The measure was introduced by Representative Steve Tanner and now heads to committee for a public hearing.
FEDERAL FUNDS FOR MILITARY SCHOOL
Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson has secured more than six million dollars in federal funding for a new elementary school at Mountain Home Air Force Base. The project will replace the aging school and serve more than 300 military-connected students.
TWIN FALLS CONVENTION CENTER STUDY
A consulting firm says there is demand for a convention center in Twin Falls. A new feasibility study projects nearly 200 events a year by year five and about one million dollars in annual tax revenue. City leaders will now decide on location and funding.
ROAD RAGE HOMICIDE IDENTIFIED
The Ada County Coroner has identified the victim in Sunday’s fatal shooting as 27-year-old Israel Castrejon Trejo of Nampa. Police say 23-year-old Jacob Streat is charged with second-degree murder in the road rage case.
CITY OF BOISE LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT
The City of Boise has settled a lawsuit with former police internal affairs captain Thomas Fleming for four hundred fifty thousand dollars. Fleming alleged retaliation and a hostile work environment tied to complaints about former Chief Ryan Lee. The case was settled through mediation.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL — LAST NIGHT
Burley picked up a 49–40 win over Canyon Ridge, led by Jocelyn Lloyd with 20 points. Burley will host Minico on Thursday.
In Gooding, the Wood River Wolverines spoiled senior night with a 49–37 win over the Senators. The game was tight at halftime, with Wood River up by just one, but the Wolverines pulled away in the second half. Taylor Heitzman led all scorers with 22 points, followed by Scottie Martin with 18 for Gooding, and Tobie Stilling with 15 for Wood River. Gooding wraps up the regular season Friday at Filer, while Wood River heads to Kimberly Thursday and hosts Minico Saturday.

COLLEGE BASEBALL
The College of Southern Idaho baseball team picked up its first win of the season, beating Paradise Valley 7–5. Trey Purser and Mack Evans homered, and Will Grizzle earned the win with three scoreless innings. The Golden Eagles play Paradise Valley again today at 2.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Boise State won its fourth straight game yesterday, rolling past San Jose State 89–58 on the road. Drew Fielder led the Broncos with 16 points, and Andrew Meadow added 15. Boise State improved to 5-and-5 in Mountain West play and wraps up its road trip Friday night at Grand Canyon.
The Idaho Vandals hit the road tomorrow to face Northern Colorado in Big Sky play. Idaho enters at 12-and-8, while the Bears are 11-and-10. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. Pacific in Greeley.
