PUBLIC SAFETY & CRIME

ECONOMY & JOBS
- Idaho’s unemployment rate held steady at 3.7% from February to March, despite a shrinking labor force. Nonfarm jobs dipped slightly, with losses in healthcare, real estate, and education. Twin Falls saw a 0.4% job growth, the highest in the state.
- Gas prices in Idaho are dipping, with regular averaging $3.31 a gallon—down two cents from last week. AAA says falling crude oil prices are driving the trend, and more savings could be on the way.
GOVERNMENT & POLITICS
- Governor Brad Little has ordered all U.S. and Idaho flags flown at half-staff to honor Pope Francis, following a directive from President Trump. Flags will remain lowered until sunset on the day of the Pope’s interment.
- Teresa Borrenpohl has filed a tort claim against the Kootenai County Sheriff and a private security firm, alleging her constitutional rights were violated after she was forcibly removed from a February town hall. Criminal charges have since been filed against six men.
- Twin Falls will honor retiring Police Chief Craig Kingsbury with a celebration Thursday at 2 p.m. at City Hall. Kingsbury has served since 2016 and has 35 years in law enforcement. Capt. Matthew Hicks is expected to succeed him.
COURTS & TRIALS
- The jury is now deliberating in the Lori Vallow Daybell trial. Closing arguments wrapped up yesterday, with prosecutors alleging a murder conspiracy. Daybell called it a family tragedy, not a crime. Deliberations resume this morning.
