Meanwhile, officials are investigating a campaign finance violation after an anonymous flyer opposed Filer’s failed $52 million school bond. Idaho law requires campaign materials to disclose who paid for them.

SPORTS ROUNDUP
Hagerman’s Katie Knight is adding another title to her name. After leading the Pirates boys’ basketball team to their first state trip since 2009, she’s now also the head coach of the girls’ varsity volleyball team. Knight coached volleyball from 2011 to 2019 before stepping away for family. With a strong freshman class and a conference title-winning squad, Knight says the timing—and the team—felt right. She’s known many of the girls since third grade and is excited to keep building Hagerman’s growing sports legacy.
Tanner Baumann is stepping off the field and into a new role as Gooding High School’s Athletic Director. The former head football coach and Gooding alum says it was always his dream to lead athletics at his alma mater. Baumann took over the football team in 2022 and has coached multiple sports. He replaces Ryon Pope, who’s moving into the principal role. While he says it’s tough to leave coaching, Baumann is excited to make a bigger impact across all programs and help put Gooding athletics on the map.
A massive youth sports complex could soon rise in Kuna, transforming 77 acres off Meridian Road into a premier destination for sports tourism. True Gritt Sports founder David McMenomey envisions the largest youth sports facility in the Northwest—complete with eight outdoor turf pods and a 200,000-square-foot indoor center featuring basketball, volleyball, and pickleball courts. The $90 to $120 million project would also include a hotel, restaurants, an RV park, and more to support visiting families. The City of Kuna is backing the plan with 20 acres, and the rest has been secured privately. McMenomey says the next steps are zoning approval and finding major sponsors.
