Fatal Crash in Hansen
A 77-year-old Hansen man, Terry Hollifield, died in a crash Monday evening near 3800 North and 4050 East. His pickup collided with a tractor/sprayer and landed in a ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Court Cases and Arrests
- 21-year-old Wyatt Johnson, of Twin Falls pleaded not guilty to two rape charges and attempted strangulation. The charges stem from a February arrest. He remains jailed and faces trials later this year in both district and magistrate courts.
- A Kimberly man accused of seven child sex crimes is now deemed fit for trial. Psychologists suspected Christopher Kiser was exaggerating mental impairments. His attorney withdrew the motion challenging his competency. Kiser remains in jail on $400,000 bond.
- Joshua Maddock of Pocatello was arrested Monday after fleeing a traffic stop, damaging property, and hiding near a truck repair shop. He faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including DUI and possession of meth.
ISP Pursuit and Fatal Shooting
New dashcam video shows a high-speed chase last September that ended in a fatal trooper-involved shooting. Daniel Ryan led ISP on a 70-mile pursuit at up to 140 mph before charging troopers with a knife. Prosecutors ruled the shooting justified.
Snake River Jet Ski Search
Twin Falls deputies searched the Snake River Monday after a report of a jet ski over Auger Falls. Crews used boats and drones but found no evidence. The sheriff’s office says the anonymous call remains unconfirmed.
Flash Flood Watch
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect this afternoon and evening for parts of Blaine and Camas counties, including the Wapiti burn scar. Heavy rain could trigger flooding and debris flows.
Train Derailment in Chester
A train derailment near Chester Tuesday spilled thousands of pounds of wheat and damaged the intersection at 2900 East and U.S. 20. No injuries were reported, but the road is closed indefinitely. Cleanup may take up to a month.
Education Funding Threat
Federal cuts to AmeriCorps are putting Teach for America Idaho at risk, threatening funding for 28 teachers. The group has placed over 160 educators statewide. Leaders warn the cuts could hurt teacher recruitment and student outcomes across Idaho.
Dog Creek Reservoir Camping Ban
Camping at Dog Creek Reservoir north of Gooding is now restricted. Idaho Fish and Game is addressing vandalism, illegal dumping, and wildfire risk. A new fence is being installed to block access until future improvements are made. The ban is in effect until further notice.
Twin Falls Pool Renovation
Twin Falls City Council approved an extra $1.1 million for pool renovations, raising the budget to $2.3 million. Upgrades include new HVAC, plumbing, locker rooms, and a lobby. Construction starts in August, with completion set for May 2026.

- The Twin Falls Hawks A swept Minico 5-4 and 8-4, with strong pitching from Grant Hales and big hits from Dawson Wheeler and Christian Waitley.
- The Cowboys B dominated the Hawks B, winning 20-1 and 23-11—Caleb Fuller drove in six in game one and added four RBIs in game two.
- Burley Green Sox B stayed perfect with 16-2 and 16-9 wins over Gooding. Jacoby Bywater had five RBIs in game one.
- Jerome Legion B Tornadoes rolled past the Hub City Hitmen with 12-4 and 21-5 wins—Nate Ramsey led the way with five RBIs in game two.
CSI Baseball Signings
CSI’s Mason Hartle, Kason O’Neil, and Jack Ryan are moving on to four-year baseball programs. Hartle heads to D-II UCCS, while O’Neil and Ryan will be NAIA rivals at Lewis-Clark State and College of Idaho. O’Neil hit .316 with 35 RBIs, and Ryan posted 22 RBIs and nine steals.
