Federal Raid in Wilder
Federal agents raided an illegal gambling operation at La Cathedral Arena in Wilder on Sunday, arresting four people, including Alejandro Estrada of Buhl. The FBI says illegal gambling often fuels drug activity and violence. About 200 officers from multiple agencies took part in the operation.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Twin Falls
Twin Falls Police say a man died after being hit by a pickup Friday night in the 1700 block of Addison Avenue East. The victim was taken to St. Luke’s Magic Valley, where he later died.

Teacher Charged in Lincoln County

Eight Families Get New Homes
After nearly a year of work, eight families received keys to their new homes Thursday through the South-Central Community Action Partnership. The group helps low-income families build their own homes, with more projects planned in Jerome and Buhl.
Chobani Expands Again
Chobani is expanding once again—announcing a $650 million fundraising round, which includes a $500 million expansion at its Twin Falls plant. The project is expected to add about 160 new jobs here in the Magic Valley.

Capitol Bomb Threat Arrest

Friday night football from southern Idaho—it’s the second-to-last week of the regular season, and while some conference titles are locked in, others are still up for grabs.
- 5A: Jerome shut out Caldwell 45–0, Madison beat Minico 31–12, and Twin Falls blanked Burley 41–0.
- 4A: Filer rolled past Mountain Home 43–8, Gooding topped Wood River 41–7, and Kimberly defeated Buhl 45–21 — clinching the conference championship.
- 3A: Declo edged Malad 28–21.
- 2A: Hagerman handled Butte County 38–18, Oakley outlasted Glenns Ferry 52–44, and Valley downed Raft River 42–26.
- 1A: Richfield shut out Castleford 58–0, while Carey crushed Shoshone 64–8 to secure another conference title.
Byes this past week were for Canyon Ridge, Murtaugh, Hansen, and Dietrich.
District IV Soccer Tournaments
The District IV soccer tournaments wrapped up Saturday, and several Magic Valley teams are headed to Boise for the state tournaments!
- 6A Boys: Canyon Ridge advanced with a 4–1 shootout win over Highland — just their second state appearance since moving up.
- 5A: Both Twin Falls teams are in — the boys after a 2–1 comeback over Jerome, and the undefeated girls (17–0–1) enter as state favorites.
- Wood River boys: Qualified with a 15–1–2 record and a District IV title.
- 4A: Sun Valley’s girls edged Kimberly 3–2 for the district crown — both advance — and the Sun Valley boys earned their berth after a 2–1 win over Gooding.
- 3A: Defending state champion Wendell boys return after a 16–1–2 season, aiming for back-to-back titles.
State brackets will be released this morning at 10 a.m.
College Soccer
The CSI men’s soccer team dominated on sophomore day, blanking Colorado Northwestern 5–0. CSI improves to 8–6–1 and visits USU Eastern next week. The CSI women fell 2–1 and also head to USU Eastern and Snow College.
College Volleyball
The 17th-ranked CSI Volleyball Team fought hard but fell to No. 5 Salt Lake CC in straight sets. CSI is now 15–8 and hosts USU Eastern and Snow College this week.
Boise State Football
Boise State dominated the second half to crush UNLV 56–31 on The Blue. The Broncos extended their home winning streak to 16 and face Nevada Friday night in Reno.
Idaho Vandals Football
The Idaho Vandals came up short on the road, falling to Eastern Washington 21–14. Idaho drops to 2–5 and hosts Portland State next Saturday at 1 p.m.
Idaho State Soccer
Idaho State soccer fell 3–0 to Northern Colorado Friday despite outshooting the Bears 22–9. The Bengals drop to 2–3–1 in Big Sky play, facing Northern Arizona next Sunday.
Farewell to Doug Martin
Former Boise State star and NFL running back Doug Martin has died at age 36. A first-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012, Martin was a two-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro selection. At Boise State, he rushed for over 3,400 yards and helped lead the Broncos to the 2009 Fiesta Bowl win over TCU.
