K-3 proficiency jumped from 47% to over 67% this spring on the Idaho Reading Indicator — a 20%+ gain, compared to the state average of 11.5%.
Crime & Courts
Benjamin Naylor, accused of four murders in Cassia and Minidoka counties, was found mentally unfit to stand trial. Judges ruled he cannot assist in his defense. He’s been committed to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

In Boise, a store clerk shot 18-year-old Junior Antonio Alvarodo Hernandez in self-defense during a violent robbery.
Three suspects, including a juvenile and Bailey Geesey, were arrested after assaulting the clerk and stealing alcohol.
A motorcycle crash in Eagle sparked a brush fire, temporarily shutting down a highway.
The fire was contained quickly and the road reopened within an hour.
